Search Engines are the backbone of the Internet. With that said, being proactive really makes the difference when it comes to showing up on search results. It's recommended that you manually register your web site with the major search engines. It's not necessary to re-register periodically because the major search engines use www-robot, what's more commonly referred to as a web crawler or web bot, will reindex your web site once your on their list periodically.
